Introduction
Since the foundation of
the Arab Club for Information
in 1998, enormous efforts
were exerted to launch
a database concerning
Arab personnel specialized
in different scientific
and professional fields
(biographies). The principal
objective of this idea
is manifested by the foundation
of a database for experts,
researchers and professionals
to activate the mechanisms
of common Arab action
and develop the process
of scientific research.
To achieve this mission,
Arabcin's Executive Bureau
decided to establish the
Arab Biographic Center.
Definition
An Arab center aims at
collecting, arranging
and preserving the biography
of Arab personnel specialized
in all active fields of
life including the scientific,
cultural, economic, political
and social fields and
others.
Objectives of the center
Constructing a database
on Arab personnel and
their activities, and
making it available for
all interested people.
Publishing a yearly version
including the biographies
of the most important
personages in the Arab
world and Arabs living
abroad.
Preserving and documenting
information on important
personages.
The activities of the
center
Collecting and preserving
relevant information resources
and references, via Arab
and foreign encyclopedias
to make use of them.
Direct contact with Arab
scientific centers and
institutions to obtain
information on important
personnel.
Attending scientific assemblies
and seminars to interview
Arab personnel and get
biographies of participants,
lecturers and organizers.
Translating biographies
from relevant references,
resources and encyclopedias
and checking to ensure
the adequacy of the collected
information. Besides,
keeping up with the latest
development to make use
of it in constructing
a database for Arab personnel.
Coordinating and cooperating
with : Club's entities-
administrative bureaux
related to Arabcin in
the Arab countries - scientific
and cultural centers-
and scientific research
institutions in Arab countries.
Collecting, arranging,
preserving and documenting
the information that comes
to the center.
