& Aspiration
Despite
the accelerating technical
development, in all
countries of the world,
which left deep grooves
in Arab and global cultures.
Arab cultural arena
still suffers from numerous
dilemmas. For instance,
children books currently
faces many challenges,
imposed by multi-media
that attracts children
through interesting
audio-visual shows,
accompanied by special
tempoes and sound effects
along with lovely lines,
forms and attractive
coluors.
One question, occures
to ones mind, namely:
From Where does child
culture begin? In fact
children culture, in
its wider conception,
starts from infancy;
when an infant begins
to explore the world
around him, he drops,
breaks, holds and tries
to dismantle his toys,
in order to discover
the secrets inside them.
Hence, the role of the
parents begins. They
start to instruct the
child in culture, in
order to wedge a strong
base of science, fine
arts and literature
in his personality.
Child library plays
an important role in
moulding the childÕs
personality, sowing
the seeds of benevolence,
love and aesthetics
in it.
Children books are considered
one important aspect
of children culture,
which represents the
human life as a whole,
with its ideas, contemplations
and facts . Through
it, a child acquires
knowledge on different
life styles, discovers
himself and others,
and how to deal with
them, together with
the answers it conveys
for miscellaneous questions,
entertainment, pastime
and profit it provides
through pictures, drawings
and the way of presentation
of information. Therefore
children books are considered
an important cultural
container, through the
book , the children
can investigate far-away
places and times, along
with different life
styles.
Due to the great technical
development in the world
now days , children
library should be upgraded
in a way coping with
such development, by
introducing modern technology
. For children library
should be not restricted
to books and magazines,
but also contains visual
materials such as microfilm
slides, television,
video films and recorders.
Computer is also important
as an essential tutorial
means. It also provides
entertainment and liesure
to the child in both
an entertaining and
tutorial way.
Books that are preferable
to children should be
available at children
libraries, such as simplified
scientific, geographical,
historical and arts
books including painting
and music; in addition
to children serials
periodicals, and games
that help to improve
the mental and experimental
capabilities of children.
Children books are governed
by certain standards
and rules upon their
writing and presentation
to the children, its
numerous materials and
subjectmatters must
comply with age categories,
together with the specialities
of each society .
We as Arabs are still
facing big difficulties
in this field. Yet there
are big efforts and
well studied plans to
present a Perfect children
literature in an age
of threatened values
and manners.
