Two
International Forums About
EL- Tahtowi & Jerusalem Architecture
The
Egyptian High Council
for Culture E.H.C.C.
will organize an inter-
national forum to commemorate
the bicentennial of
Rafe' El- Tahtawi, the
great Arab thinker and
the avant- grade, who
once aimed at illuminating
Egypt.
To
achieve so, the council
has formed a scientific
committee to coordinate
the forum affairs. This
committee consists of:
(1) The council chairman,
as a head, and membership
of
(2) Dr. Younan Labib
Reza.
(3) Dr. Madiha Dos.
(4) Dr. Majeda Refa'a.
(5) Dr. Mahmoud Fahme
Hejazi, the professor
of linguistics in the
faculty of letters,
Cairo University and
the Previous Chairman
of Books House (Dar
El-Kutub).
(6) Dr. Kamel Zuhair,
the writer and the famous
journalist.
"The forum will
focus on Tahtawi's contributions
socially, politically
and culturally as well.
These contributions
will be presented through
3- days siminar in which
many issues concerning
Tahtawi's role in modernizing
Egypt are going to be
discussed".
Dr.Imad
Eldin Abu Ghazi,
the general supervisor
of the committees and
sections within the
council was quoted as
saying. Furthermore,
the council will organize
another forum about
the Arab origins of
the architecture in
occupied Jerusalem.
This
forum will be organized
in cooperation with
U.N.E.S.C.O.
and The International
Aga khan Institute whose
main concern is to retain
the Islamic identity
of Jerusalem and to
stand for the whole
means and attempts of
Juadizing the holly
city.
As
it is expected, ten
experts form the two
organizations, Dr,Yehia
El Zeny, Dr. Abd El
Haleem Ibraheem
as much as many other
Egyptian architects
especialized in Islamic
Architecture will participale
in this forum.
